A 14-year-old girl is battling life-threatening complications after five men defiled and attempted killing her at the Nkawkaw New Lorry Station.
The five men strangled the 14-year-old school drop-out after defiling her in turns. They intended to snuff the life out of her and when she became unconscious they dumped her in a stream believing her to be dead.
Miraculously, she survived but now walks with difficulty and has since been bleeding.
The Nkawkaw Divisional Police have arrested two suspects who have confessed to the crime but are pleading for leniency.
A 25-year-old Cobbler and ex-convict Yaw Preko and a driver’s mate, Mohammed Adamu, are in police custody in connection with the case.
Te Police have also launched a manhunt for the three other accomplices identified as Junior, Awudu and Sarfo.
Nkawkaw Divisional Commander, Chief Superintendent James Sarfo Peprah told Nhyira News the victim was bundled to an Indian Hemp smoking area and defiled by the men in turns.
She was on one of her ice-water selling trips when one of the suspects carried her at the back whilst another covered her mouth with the hand and pulled her into a bush.
Both Adamu and Preko have been speaking to Nhyira News few days after an Nkawkaw Magistrate’s Court remanded them into police custody. They are facing defilement, conspiracy to commit crime and attempted murder charges.
One of the suspects, Adamu Mohammed narrated how they planned and attempted to kill the victim and dump her body in the Trado stream.
The victim was however saved by a Good Samaritan.
Doctors at the Holy Family Hospital treated and administered some HIV, pregnancy and hepatitis preventive treatment.
They say the victim’s hymen was absent during investigations. Besides, she has been bleeding profusely from her private parts, coupled with severe abdominal and stomach pains.
Her grandmother has been looking for support to treat other complications arising from the incident.
She told Nhyira News her granddaughter’s condition keeps deteriorating.
