Three suspects have been arrested and detained by the police over last Sunday’s dawn attack on the Sankore property of the Member of Parliament (MP) for Asunafo South, Mr. Eric Opoku.
Their names were given as Paa Kwasi, alias “IK”, Richard Asare and Anointing.
Chief Inspector Augustine Kingsley Oppong, the Brong-Ahafo Regional Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed this to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani.
The suspects together with others on the run reportedly raided the house of the MP and vandalized three vehicles that had been parked there.
They also allegedly fired gunshots into the walls of the house, smashed its sliding doors and windows and damaged the gate.
They were said to have later attacked three other persons – Thomas Amponsah, Adams Seidu and Apostle Timothy, inflicting multiple deep cuts on them.
Chief Inspector Oppong said the suspects would soon be put before court.
He vowed that everything would be done by the police to arrest their fugitive accomplices.
He renewed the appeal to people in the area to provide credible information that would lead to the arrest and successful prosecution of those who had chosen to live outside the law.
