Road Safety Management Services has called for all cargo vehicles to be banned from using the upper sections of the Kwame Nkrumah Interchange.

The call comes after a 40-footer trailer truck loaded with bags of sugar fell off the first layer overpass of the Kwame Nkrumah Interchange on Wednesday evening.

The incident occurred as a result of a hydraulic failure of the trailer truck, although ideally, the huge vehicle should not be plying that section of the interchange.

It took the intervention of Road Safety Management Services Limited, personnel of the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana National Fire Service to cordon off the area and remove the trailer truck from the top of the interchange.

Communication Manager of Road Safety Management Services, Roland Walker, was worried that despite the erection of numerous warning and directional signs, motorists and pedestrians flouted basic road safety regulations on the route. To improve the situation, Road Safety Management Services Ltd has deployed 40 of its task force to ensure sanity on the road.

Roland Walker expressed the commitment of Road Safety Management Services Limited to complement efforts to maintain safety on Ghana’s roads
