Ghana U17 set to make history in Africa

Ghana is on the verge of making history as the first Nation to win the Africa U17 title on three occasions.

The Black Starlets are just a game away to secure the most trophies at that level on the continent.

Ghana defeated Niger 6-5 on penalties to progress to the finals of this year’s competition in Gabon after a goalless stalemate in regulation time.

The Black Starlets who are current one of the three most successful teams in Africa could be making history should they win the title on Sunday.

The two-time World Champions have two trophies to their credit after winning the competition in 1995 and 1999, the same number of titles as fellow West Africa neighbors Nigeria and Gambia.

With the absence of the two teams (Nigeria and Gambia) at this year’s edition of the competition, Ghana is poised to get a hand on yet another Africa U17 Nations Cup trophy.

Head Coach Paa Kwesi Fabin will also be making history as the third Coach to win the trophy for Ghana after the late Sam Ardey and Cecil Attuquayefio, as well as skipper Eric Ayiah who will join his predecessors Christian Gyan and Stephen Tetteh as captains to lead the side to glory.
