Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan is delighted to have broken Cameroon legend Roger Milla’s all-time Africa World Cup record.

Gyan, 32, became the continent’s top scorer at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, where he scored for Ghana in their 2-1 loss to the Selecção of Portugal.

The strike was Gyan’s sixth strike in three World Cup tournaments, one ahead of former Cameroon great Roger Milla, who had held the record as Africa’s all-time leading scorer since 1990.

The Kayserispor hitman took to Twitter on his 32nd birthday to celebrate the feat.

Gyan became Ghana’s all-time top scorer with 51 goals five months ago when he scored for the Black Stars 5-0 walloping of Ethiopia in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
