Ghana’s Ebenezer Assifuah grabbed a goal on the first day of the French Ligue 2 season for Le Havre in their 3-0 win over Tours on Friday.

The former Sion forward headed Le Havre into the lead on 9 minutes as they went on to grab all three points on the day.

Overall, he played 73 minutes of the encounter and after the match, he said that
he was pleased with his goal but he was more concerned with the result for the team.

“It’s important for the team to get a victory like this because we were well organised and we prepared well for the game.

We spoke before the game on the importance of preparing well. The most important thing for us was the three points.

I do not think about the goals. I choose to think about the team. There is no use in scoring ten goals in match if the team loses. If I do not get a goal and we win, it works out well for me.”

Last season, Assifuah scored four times for Le Havre’s B team and twice for the first team. Collectively, he played 11 times for Le Havre’s team A and B.

Assifuah is expected to feature in the team’s next Ligue 2 match against Auxerre on August 4, 2017.
