Bayern Munich has dismissed rumours of interest in Cristiano Ronaldo, with Karl-Heinz Rummenigge calling them “completely unfounded”.

Ronaldo has reportedly told Real Madrid he wants to leave, prompting speculation over which clubs could sign him.

Bayern has made clear they have no desire to make an offer, though, with the club calling it the “hoax of the day” on their website.

And the Bundesliga side’s chairman said such talk is mere fantasy.

“We’re used to being the subject of intense transfer speculation during transfer windows,” Rummenigge told Bayern’s official website.

“Normally we don’t comment on rumours, but in this case, we would like to make our position on Cristiano Ronaldo absolutely clear: This rumour is completely unfounded and must be consigned to the realms of fantasy.”

Ronaldo’s future has become uncertain following accusations that he had defrauded the Spanish tax authorities out of €14.7 million.

Madrid prosecutors have filed a complaint to a court, alleging the 32-year-old of a “voluntary” and “conscious” breach of his tax obligations.
