The fatal car crash that killed music star Ebony Reigns has been linked to a heap of sand, left there by a road contractor.

The heap, believed to be for the construction of the road had been left over a month ago at the Mankranso stretch of the Kumasi- Sunyani road where the fatal accident occurred.

Reconstructing what may have occurred late Thursday night, Luv FM’s Erastus Asare Donkor observed that the Mankranso section of the road is full of potholes.

He described two of them as “gullies”.

Ebony and three others- a friend, driver, and bodyguard – were traveling on the left side from the far end in this picture.

Erastus Asare Donkor reported Ebony’s driver may have suddenly encountered a small bank of sand on the left side of the dark road Thursday night and decided to dodge it.

His attempt to suddenly swerve the bump, brought the car into a direct collision with a VIP bus in the other lane.

If the driver had turned to the right, he would have fallen off the road and into a deep ditch.

The Cherokee which had Ebony in, together with three other occupants was mangled particular at the passenger side. The sole survivor and driver is in critical condition.

Ahafo Ano South District Chief Executive (DCE) Joseph Agyeman Dapaah explained, there have been so many accidents on that part of the road.

He said he has complained to the Regional Highway Authority to attend to the terrible state of the road.

At least a month ago, his calls yielded results after he saw a heap of sand which he believes was deposited there by a road contractor.

He said he did not know the road contractor nor was he informed by the Regional Highway Authority.

Even after Ebony’s accident, a trailer carrying blocks crashed into another vehicle as it tried to avoid the sandy bump, Asare Donkor reported.

Before Ebony’s death, an old woman was also knocked down after a driver tried to swerve some potholes on the same stretch.
