Ga people are noted for vulgarism – DKB

Comedian DKB, who recently received a lot of flak for using obscene language in his recent performance, has thrown another bomb.

His jab this time is at his own roots, the Ga community.

The controversial comedian in an interview with Doreen Avio on the Let’s Talk Entertainment (LTE) on JoyNews says Gas are known for vulgarism.

He said this is why he chose to use vulgar words in his recent performance at the Easter Comedy Show at the Accra International Conference Centre.

DKB, who once represented Ghana at the Big Brother Africa reality show, clarified that he wanted to mimic Ga people.

Derick Kobina Bonney made headlines after his performance. He attracted a lot of criticisms from a cross section of Ghanaians, including former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings who walked out of the auditorium because she considered his choice of words disparaging.

Reacting to the issue, DKB pointed out that he did not intend to offend anybody.

“All my jokes have nothing to do with the former First Lady. I was talking about Ga people and they are known for using vulgar language in a tension or pressure situation,” he stated.

“I was just describing a stereotypical Ga man situation and then she conveyed it as too much vulgarity and I understand because I am serving an audience and whatever they tell me I must take in good faith.”

He apologised to the former First Lady and the organisers of the event.

He added that the incident has not affected his career and he still remains the ‘King of GH Comedy’.
