International Hall of Fame Inductee, Azumah Nelson, has called on the government to show more interest in boxing.
Nelson made this known when he was honoured by the World Boxing Council (WBC) at the ongoing 55th WBC Convention in Baku, Azerbaijan last Monday. The Ghanaian legend was presented with WBC Champion Award.
“I pray government shows more interest in boxing, said Nelson.
“This award means that whatever you do, do it well and many years after, the world will continue to celebrate you. I dedicate this award to Ghana boxing. My prayer is that government will show more interest in the sport for us to raise more champions for Ghana, focusing on the younger ones.”
Nelson is widely regarded as the greatest featherweight boxer of all time after defending the WBC World featherweight title for ten solid years.
