There is certainly something about weddings when it comes to Master of Ceremonies, Kwesi Pratt Yawah.
He just loves weddings and it is no surprise he has emceed about 100 nuptials in the last four years.
And yes, although he is not your very popular compere, the young man who claims he loves to make couples happy, says he always has something to offer newly-weds.
Talking about why he loves to steer affairs at weddings and not any other programmes, Kwesi Pratt Yawah aka Myster Pratt said seeing two people in love getting married excites him and all he wants is to add up to the excitement.
“I want the couple to enjoy the day and I believe I can add to the excitement hence the reason I am busy every Saturday emceeing from one wedding to the other. More so, my joy is seeing family members and friends of the couples say wow we love the wedding,” he told Showbiz in an interview.
Throwing light on how it all started, Myster Pratt said he emceed a friend’s wedding and the response he had afterwards gave him the encouragement to go into it fulltime.
According to him, he has a team of five who assist him with his work. “ Before I emcee on the D-day, my team members would have sat with the couple a month to their wedding, interact with them and get every information they need to know about them.
“My team and I are able to draw a plan and make the wedding very exciting. I crack intelligent jokes and say very interesting things about the couples based on the information I have,” he added.
Also, to help him handle weddings successfully, Myster Pratt said his team attend other marriage ceremonies to see what other MCs do to help them improve their act.
“ We also learn from videos on the internet to enhance our trade and this has helped us a lot.”
Myster Pratt said because he is always learning to improve his act, he is yet to come across a couple who were unhappy with his work.
“ I have never disappointed any couple since I started this wedding mc business. I am so happy that people choose me to handle their weddings for them due to my track record and my clients are always happy when my job is done,” he said.
Asked whether he has faced any challenges carrying out his duties, Myster Pratt revealed that the only time he was a little nervous was when he had to emcee radio and TV personality, Abeiku Santana’s wedding.
“I think I was overwhelmed and confused when I saw all the celebrities and other dignitaries present. I think he noticed it too so at a point in time, Abeiku Santana had to call me quietly to tell me I am the MC so I should take control of the event. His words got me back on track and I was able to continue and eveything went well,” he said.
Touching on how he comes by his clients who are mostly bankers, medical doctors, pharmacists or entrepreneurs, Myster Pratt said couples he has rendered services for recommend him to their friends. In addition, his personal friends also sell his brand to couples ready to marry.
About his challenges in the business, Myster Pratt, who is married to Akosua Konadu Kwarteng Amoah who is also a member of his team, pointed out that it was not easy combining marriage and his MC work initially.
“My wife was not very happy that I leave the house every Saturday to emcee wedding events. I therefore had to include her in my team made up of Emmanuel Akangla, Prince Osei, Abena Akyea Kusi and myself as the leader. And now she understands the job and enjoys working with me,” he said.
A graduate of the University of Ghana, Legon and currently pursuing an MBA at Webster University, Myster Pratt said he wants to be one of the finest MCs in Ghana and beyond.
According to him, although it is not going to be an easy task, he believes he can achieve that through hard work and dedication.
“Nothing good in this world comes easy but when you put your mind to it and work hard, there is nothing you cannot achieve,” he noted.
