The United Nations General Assembly has designated June 27, to be observed as International Day for micro small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).
The Entrepreneurs Foundation of Ghana (EFG) in collaboration with other stakeholders will organise an international MSME business network slated for June 27, to commemorate the Day on the theme: “Facilitating economic growth of SMEs through global partnership.”
International SME Business Network 2017 (ISMEBN 2017) is to acknowledge the importance of MSMEs in achieving the new global development goals. This business network will observe and raise public awareness of their contribution to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which the Assembly adopted in September 2015.
A statement issued in Accra by Mr Sam Ato Gaisie, the Founder and CEO of EFG said the objective of the business network is to connect the Global SMEs with the Ghanaian SMEs for mutual business development and explore the emerging Ghanaian markets.
The business network will also focus on topics such as alignment with global practices, organisational and partnership building, improve access to finance and promote enhanced role of MSME in global value chain.
ISMEBN 2017 is a platform for MSMEs and Ghanaian top entrepreneurs to interact, network and do business with foreign investor and Diplomatic Corps in Ghana.
It is dedicated to developing sustainable strategic business alliance and investment priorities to enhance domestic and international business partnerships and also create new opportunities.
It will also provide SMEs with special insights and update of the opportunities and challenges for them to explore and develop ideas, innovations and networks for expansion and growth.
The event will provide a common platform for MSMEs to meet and explore new business opportunities.
It will be an annual dynamic international platform for SMEs to acquire knowledge, source solutions for business enhancement, find new investors and seize unparalleled opportunities in today’s globalise economy.
The statement said: “We are placing an explicit focus on creating new international and domestic business-to-business relationships and commercial openings for small, medium and large Ghanaian companies.
“The business summit will connect Ghanaian businesses into international markets, bringing together the entrepreneurial minds and the best business opportunities.”
The target audience includes Ministers of State, Ambassadors and High Commissioners, foreign and local investors, members of the diplomatic Corps and heads of state institutions.
