Tonight , for the first time in history , Ghanaians will have the right to watch a Ghanaian – Kevin-Prince Boateng – listed or fielded as FC Barcelona player when they face Sevilla in the Copa del Rey.
The former AC Milan midfielder became the first Ghanaian international to sign for F.C Barcelona and could make his competitive debut for the Spanish side on Wednesday night.
Barcelona travel to face Sevilla in the first leg of their Quarterfinal Copa del Rey tie and Prince Boateng also played for Spanish side Las Palmas is in the Blaugrana squad for the Sevilla showdown.
Boateng joined Spanish La Liga club Barcelona on 21 January 2019 on loan until the end of the 2018–19 season, with the club holding an option to sign him permanently for a €8 million transfer fee. He has joined the Catalan side to serve as a backup for Luis Suárez after Munir El Haddadi was sold to Sevilla.
Born in Germany, Boateng represented Germany internationally at youth level but at senior level he switched allegiance to Ghana where he represented the Black Stars 15 times between 2010 and 2014, scoring two goals, and took part the 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups with the team.
