Ghana striker, Kwesi Appiah has hailed the date switch for the Africa Cup of Nations.
African football chiefs rectified the proposal to move the biannual tournament to the summer.
The Nations Cup’s timing in January and February has long angered clubs in Europe, where many Africans play.
The biennial finals has also beeen increased from 16 teams to 24.
And Ghana striker Kwesi Appiah, who plays for AFC Wimbledon, is delighted with the change of time.
“I never would have had that problem myself, but you probably do get some players who pull out because they don’t want to leave or upset their club. They don’t want to lose their place in the team,” he told BBC World Service.
“No manager would come out openly and say I don’t want my player to play in this tournament but I’m sure there is some pressure behind closed doors.”
