Before anyone agrees to marry you, I am very sure they love you, see what a mess you can be, how moody you can get, how hard you are to handle but still want you in their life.
This makes saying “For better for worse” easy with smiles on their faces. Marriage is something God cherishes and adores so much that He instituted it in holiness.
Again there was no word like divorce when God established marriage. God had the power to create more than one woman for the man but he chose to create one for him, knowing that was exactly what a man needed. Just like the right proportion of salt to a soup. Too much of the salt will mess the soup up.
Divorce was introduced in the time of Moses. “Jesus replied, “Moses gave you this law because you are so heartless.
But in the beginning God made a man and a woman. That’s why a man leaves his father and mother and gets married. He becomes like one person with his wife. Then they are no longer two people, but one. And no one should separate a couple that God has joined together. Mark 10:5-9 (CEV)”.
Marriage is not a game of trial and error; you are either on a trial for life or in an error for life. Trial and error only happens in dating. Why all this education? someone may ask. This is a very hard subject for me to write on as a counselor. I have counselled lots of singles who are waiting for the baton from a married person to get married to them, waiting for them to divorce and come for them.
It’s very true, there are lots of women than men on this earth but I don’t believe there more single women looking for marriage than single men ready for marriage.
The problem is, some singles know how to attract but don’t have what it takes to keep, while others have what it takes to keep but don’t know how to attract.
There is a blessing in marriage, that’s when you do it the right way, but if you are single and have to wait for someone to divorce in order to marry you, then I can surely tell you, your marriage won’t begin with God, because God is against what you are praying for.
Nothing can compare to God’s blessings; no matter how long it takes, I won’t trade that for a man or woman. “The blessing of the Lord makes rich, and he adds no sorrow with it” – Proverbs 10:22 (ESV).
For those married to the unlovable, for those whose love have melted into pains, pray for more God, it’s not too late to try again. If you learn to go back to God, the creator of the man or woman you are married to, He will soften their heart for you.
Keep in mind real love begins where nothing is expected in return. Be patient, great marriages take time and it’s not built in a day.
“Husbands, love your wives. You must love them as Christ loved the church. He gave His life for it” – Ephesians 5:25 (NLV).
In conclusion “And no one should separate a couple that God has joined together” – Mark 10:9 (CEV).
