Manchester United and Jose Mourinho have made no significant progress in talks over a new contract, sources have told ESPN FC.

Mourinho signed a three-year deal when he took over at Old Trafford which could keep him at the club until 2019.

Preliminary discussions over an extension took place in September but sources have told ESPN FC that they have not advanced any further.

It comes amid speculation Paris Saint-Germain are interested in hiring the Portuguese coach, either at the end of the season or the following summer, to replace Unai Emery, who is under pressure to win the Champions League.

Sources insist the French club have not made an approach.

However, the 54-year-old has already changed his stance on how long he expects to stay at United.

Mourinho told ESPN FC during last summer’s preseason tour of the United States that he could stay at Old Trafford for “15 years.”

But speaking ahead of a Champions League tie against Benfica in October, he said that, although he plans to manage for another 15 years, they will not all be spent at Old Trafford.

“I think I’m going to be 15 years minimum in the job.” he said in Lisbon.

“The only thing that I said and is true, and there was not misinterpretation of my words, is I am not going to end my career at Manchester United.”

In an interview with French broadcaster TF1 last month, he described PSG, who sanctioned a world record deal for Neymar in the summer, as “special” and “magic.”

Mourinho has, though, left the door open to sign a new contract at United.

Meanwhile, sources have told ESPN FC that, despite the shadow of PSG, the club are relaxed about his future with more than 18 months to run on his existing deal.
