Gospel musician Nacee will very soon be dropping a new single titled ‘Boys Boys’ featuring one of the country’s hard working secular artistes, Guru, NEWS-ONE has gathered.
The song will cruise on the wings of Nacee’s upcoming ‘Counselor 2’ album.
His previous ‘Counselor 1’ album was described as a masterpiece. It was a presentation of a potpourri of Ghanaian music of all genres – a move that placed the artiste, songwriter, producer and composer under severe scrutiny.
His decision to put songs on the album, which many felt were ‘non-gospel’ got tongues wagging and drew some backlash but the artiste remained resolute and unfazed.
The critically-acclaimed album won the best album of the year at the 18th edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) and one of the many hit songs on the album – ‘Yewo Nyame A Yewo Adze’ – won gospel song of the year.
Born Nana Osei, Nacee is one musician who refuses to rest on his oars and laurels thus, the idea of coming out with ‘Counselor 2.’
The first single of the album sounds like a classic song that, for the umpteenth time, showcases the versatility of Nacee as a formidable songwriter, producer and singer.
He taps into the lyrical dexterity of one of the best rappers in Ghana – Guru – for the new single, ‘Boys Boys’, and the chemistry and camaraderie of the two artistes on the song are telling.
The song will be released officially on Thursday, April 27, 2017.
The production is groovy, melodious and infectious, arguably one of the finest works of Nacee, outside the gospel domain.
‘Boys Boys’ basically talks about deception and ‘borrowed’ lifestyle among the youth – bragging about what one does not possess. It teaches contentment and self-gratification with what one has.
The song is just one of many enthralling ones on the ‘Counselor 2’ album, which is set for release.
