Ghana’s young basketball hopefuls will get the opportunity to spend the whole day with Golden Warriors star David West as well as Phoenix Suns forward TJ Warren and former Raptors baller Pops Mensah-Bonsu today August 15 at the University of Ghana for a day’s basketball clinic.
The one day event dubbed “Africa All Access Camp” will give opportunity to upcoming Ghanaian basketball players to exhibit their talents in the presence of the three NBA stars as well as get requisite training in the sport.
David West and his colleagues arrived in the country a few days ago to a warm reception at the Kotoka International Airport to propagate their talents to Afirca’s future legends.
The trio expressed their utmost desire to enlighten the youth and also let them know how to excel in playing basketball.
“We are not here together but here together in mind because we are focused on making an impact, positive contribution in Africa. Our target audience are the future, going through the hearts and minds of the young people and talking about tomorrow, talking about giving them the principles and ideas of creating a better tomorrow for their selves, family and ultimately the continent,” David West said.
Anthony “T. J.” Warren Jr., who is in Ghana for the first time was grateful for the warm reception and also expressed his readiness to share with the youth what he has learnt for the past twenty years in basketball.
In line with West’s vision, Pops said “I see it as a social responsibility to come back and be the best. I never had anybody as a role model to see and pursue my dreams, so whatever I have to inspire the next generation, I will give”
As part of the clinic there will be a workshop by sponsors of the event Zoetic Energy to give the upcoming players insights about developing hydro power plants to generate immediate hydrokinetic energy to address the deficits throughout the developing world.
