A Deputy General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho says he does see why some individuals would want to make news out of his comments that he loves the late Mills but worked for former president Mahama.
An interview the maverick politician granted host of State of Affairs, Nana Aba Anamoah on GH One Television that has gone viral.
Koku Anyidoho in the interview who once worked as the spokesperson of John Atta Mills’, reiterated his dedication to the late President, who he said he loved. “I will never regret working for him… President Mills, I salute you in your grave. Nobody will take that away from me.’’
The host repeated her question on whether Mr. Anyidoho loves Mr. Mahama but he said, I worked for President Mahama and when pressed further if he don’t love Mr. Mahama, he declared, ‘’It’s conditional’’.
The comment has sparked debate but Mr. Anyidoho says he does not see why anybody wants to make news out this thing. It was an hour interview, many issues were discussed…And I said I loved my party. That is why I will sacrifice and work hard for my party. I will work for any leader because leadership rotates…My loyalty is to the party and to the leader at all times…What is this business that people want to make a deal out of.’’
Speaking in an interview with Kwame Tutu on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm, he said what is most important for him is the gory death under President Akufo-Addo and not the comments I made.
He said he will not waste his time glorifying those who want to make news out of nothing. Everybody knows the relationship between myself and President Mills.
It was more than a working relationship. It was more than a working relationship…It was tight, it was close. Big deal- I’m not supposed to have that same relationship with everybody else…Every leader has his tight people. Kwame Nkrumah had his tight people, Akufo did, Rawlings did, and Liman did. So what’s this big deal? Mahama had his tight people. It is not a crime…Let people give their interpretation. I will not glorify anyone. Seventeen people are dead and you want me to glorify those interpreting my comments?
He further slammed the founder and General Overseer of the Glorious Word Ministries, Rev, Isaac Owusu Bempah for suggesting that, the NDC’s evil machinations and plot to win power at all cost in the 2016 elections, should be blamed for the recent tragic deaths.
Koku Anyidoho said wherever Owusu Bempah and Nana Addo went before winning the polls is on their heads.
‘’Owusu Bempah should not try and bring this thing close to the door step of the NDC at all. Young girls and boys are committing suicides. The carnage on our roads; And Owusu Bempah says what?
He also took a swipe at the Women’s Aglow International, former Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, and Prof. Martey for keeping mute over what is currently befalling the nation.
Using the bible as a reference and Proverbs 29:2, [NOT A DIRECT QUOTE] he said, when righteous men rule, the nation rejoice, but when evil men rule, the nation suffers and that is what we are currently experiencing. It is in the bible, I am not the one quoting it. [PROVERBS 29:2-The New Living Translation quotes: When the godly are in authority, the people rejoice. But when the wicked are in power, they groan.]
‘’It is the bad leadership, it is the evil leadership and the evil times we are in; that is causing these disasters. And I am telling Owusu Bempah that he is part of the evil that has befallen Ghana. Owusu Bempah and Nana Akufo-Addo and NPP should carry their evil cross and leave the NDC alone.’’
