WASHINGTON—Donald Trump invited prominent chief executives, such as FedEx’s Fred Smith, Boeing’s Dennis Muilenburg and PepsiCo’s Indra Nooyi, over for dinner last week at his vacation residence in New Jersey.

He made 18 false claims in his remarks to them.

His monologue at Bedminster was the most dishonest moment of a quiet week. Trump, who did much less speaking and tweeting than usual, made 29 false claims, his lowest number in two months, following a record-setting 133 the week before and 76 the week before that.

Trump is now up to 2,321 false claims for the first 570 days of his presidency, an average of 4.1 per day.

If Trump is a serial liar, why call this a list of “false claims,” not lies? Click here for our detailed explanation. The short answer is that we can’t be sure that each and every one was intentional. In some cases, he may have been confused or ignorant. What we know, objectively, is that he was not telling the truth.
