Renowned Gospel musician, Yaw Sarpong has narrated how God saved him from the grasps of death after battling an ailment for more than two years.

In an interview with Ohemaa Woyeje on Adom FM’s ‘Work and Happiness’, the veteran gospel musician disclosed he was paralysed for two years but never gave up and hoped to be healed of the sickness someday.

“My biggest problem was the sickness I had. It nearly killed me. It has been the difficult thing I have ever had in my life. I thought it was malaria. After three months, I couldn’t even walk. I was paralysed and taken to Okomfo Anokye. They couldn’t find out what was wrong with me. So I was taken to 37 Hospital.

“The MRI tests showed there was a round thing in my spinal cord and that was the reason why I was paralysed. I told God he knows best. I was told I couldn’t walk nor talk as before if I went through the operation. I prayed to God to help me go through this…” he added.

The ‘Wo haw ne sen’ hit maker further revealed he couldn’t stop tears from running down his cheeks when doctors confirmed he had a spinal injury hence the way forward was to operate him through his throat.

“Bishop Dr J Y Adu healed me. A few people had suggested him and I never regret going to him for my healing. God used him. I prayed every morning about four hours. All my family members hardly believe Pastors who aren’t from their faith. But at a point, that is the only option they had…,” he explained sadly.

The legendary artiste further urged all those in similar situations to hold on to their faith and never give up.

He added that, those who miserably suffer illnesses or woes should believe God can heal everything irrespective how long or worse the matter is.

“All the doctors used me to share testimonies. The operation didn’t happen. No pressure plate was bought. My healing was divine healing. If there is a chance for someone to help you, you have to give yourself in. I never lost hope. They thought I wanted to die. Sometimes there are some tests that God designs for us but always believe…” he advised.

Yaw Sarpong who has 25 music albums and over 100 songs to his credit is keen to continuing his mission of restoring joy with his songs of faith and exalted Christians to live righteous lives.

As part of his 40 years in ministry, Yaw Sarpong plans to launch the Yaw Sarpong Foundation (YSF) later in the year with the objective of transforming prisons across the country.

Dubbed ‘The Prison Project’, it aims at establishing counselling and resource centres across Ghana’s prisons and provide a platform for inmates to discover their talents through the power of music

His passion to see through his God given mission has inspired the writing of his latest album, “Awurade Kasa”, which will be released in December 2017.
