Songstress Wendy Shay has said recording her maiden album, ‘Shay On You’, within a period of six months didn’t come easy for her.

The ‘Uber Driver’ hitmaker had a corporate launch of the album on Thursday at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Accra.

The ceremony had supporting performances from Sefa, Adina, Keche and Nana Boro.

It attracted a number of dignitaries, including Deputy Communications Director and National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammy Awuku, and Ghanaian-American chemical engineer and inventor Dr. Thomas O. Mensch.

Wendy Shay, who was first introduced to the Ghanaian music audience on the stage of the 2017 Vodafone Ghana Music Award (VGMA), has spent barely a year in the industry, yet she has proven to be a good talent.

She has more than three songs that are doing very well among the top trending songs in 2018, and now she is out with an album under Rufftown Records label.

According to her, she put in a lot of hard work to come this far.

“It wasn’t easy recording my album in six months,” she told Caroline Sampson, the host of the corporate launch.

“I decided to give the fans different sides of me. On the album, you actually have highlife, dancehall, you have everything on it,” she added.

Also speaking at the ceremony, Wendy Shay’s manager and CEO of Rufftown Records, Ricky Nana Agyeman (Bullet), stated that the artiste has made history because no artiste in Ghana is able to release an album in six months.

“I love talent and within six months we are able to create a star,” he said.

The 10-track album has songs as ‘Astalavista’, ‘Psalm 35’, ‘Uber Driver’, ‘Shay On You’ and many others.

Copies were sold for hundreds of cedis at the launch ceremony.

Wendy Shay also performed some of the songs on the album at the ceremony.
